Our fundamental outlook for the wireless telecommunications sub-industry is positive, as we believe major wireless service providers in developed countries will generate strong cash flow despite high wireless market penetration in their respective countries, while wireless providers in emerging markets should continue to realize double-digit subscriber and revenue growth with improving margins and profitability.


We see a stable market, with growing cash flow and higher returns on investment. The four national wireless carriers that account for 90% or more of the U.S. market's total subscribers have chosen not to lower the price of services, but mostly subsidize handsets, in our view.
We believe wireless carriers have increased their buyers' power with equipment suppliers. Sprint Nextel and ALLTEL are the two principal components of S&P's wireless telecommunications sub-industry index.
